Arsenal hold transfer 'meeting with agent' over Leicester City ace

Arsenal have reportedly met with the agent of Youri Tielemans as speculation over the Leicester City midfielder’s future continues to rage.

The Foxes’ FA Cup match-winner could leave the King Power Stadium, either this summer for a fee or next summer for free when his contract expires. Talks have been held over a new City deal, but to no avail.

Reports in February claimed Tielemans had decided against extending his stay at Leicester, although Brendan Rodgers insisted that was not the case. Last month, Tielemans insisted he was open to staying at City, but not had not made a decision about his future.

“There are talks between the club and my advisors. That will remain so. It's not that I'm ignoring the club. In the summer I will study my options and take the plunge,” he said.

Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are all said to be interested in Tielemans, while mega-rich Newcastle United have also been linked. The Gunners are in the market for a least one new central midfield as Mikel Arteta looks to overhaul his squad in the summer.

And according to our colleagues at Football.London, Arsenal have gone as far as holding talks with Tielemans’ representatives. Gunners reporter Chris Wheatley wrote: “Arsenal have already held a meeting with Tielemans’ agent, with the Belgian international set to leave Leicester upon the expiration of his contract next summer. Arteta believes that Tielemans would bolster Arsenal's midfielder and without costing a transfer fee, represents great value for money.”
