Arsenal handed Pedro Neto transfer boost with Wolves in talks to sign former Manchester United target as replacement

Wolves are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic, which could boost Arsenal’s chances of landing top target Pedro Neto.

Arsenal news, exclusives and analysis

On Monday, it was revealed that Arsenal were eyeing a move for Wolves winger Neto to replace the out-of-favour Nicholas Pepe, but the transfer will prove tricky to complete, given that the Molineux based side want over £50million for the 22-year-old.

Another sticking point is that the transfer window closes in just over a week’s time, and as such Bruno Lage will likely be unwilling to sell one of his side’s best players with so little time left to find a replacement.

But in that regard the Gunners may be in luck, as Sky Sports report that Wolves are closing in on a deal to sign Stuttgart’s Kalajdzic although there is still some disagreement between the Premier League and Bundesliga clubs over the fee.

Wolves have offered £15m for the 25-year-old who has just one year left on his contract, but Stuttgart are holding out for around £21m.

Kalajdzic has scored 22 goals and made 11 assists in 51 games in Germany’s topflight and could have got more last season had he not missed half the campaign with a shoulder injury.

At 6ft 7in, the Austrian international’s build and style of play has been compared to former striker Peter Crouch and he is reportedly keen on a move to Premier League.

Kalajdzic was also one of many strikers on Manchester United’s shortlist this summer before they abandoned plans to sign a new No.9 after the resurgence of Antony Martial during pre-season.
