Arsenal hand Manchester United blueprint to unlock Manuel Ugarte transfer

Manchester United's Premier League rivals Arsenal may have just shown them how to execute a deal for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

United are admirers of the 23-year-old midfielder and, as a result, have spent the summer months trying to agree a deal with the Ligue 1 champions to bring the Uruguay international to Old Trafford.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News earlier this week, PSG are open to letting Ugarte move to the Premier League this summer, though Manchester United's ability to sign off a deal is understood to be hinged on the possible departure of Scott McTominay.

But it seems United could be about to replicate Arsenal's recent transfer trick to bring Ugarte to Old Trafford this summer, with the Reds willing to agree to an initial loan deal for the midfielder which would include an option or obligation to make that deal permanent next summer.

If United were to complete an initial loan for the Uruguayan, it would benefit United's Profit and Sustainability calculations as any outlay for a permanent deal would come after the Premier League's current financial years end on June 30. United have already spent big this summer following the additions of Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Leny Yoro.

If that was to be how United sealed a deal for Ugarte, it would follow Arsenal's blueprint of how they landed David Raya from Brentford last summer.

The Spaniard initially moved to the Emirates Stadium on loan before his deal was made permanent earlier this summer for a fee of £27m.
