Arsenal find their Aubameyang replacement as Mikel Arteta's side edge closer to Champions League

Mikel Arteta may have a ready-made Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang replacement under his very nose as the Gunners edge ever closer to a top-four finish this season.

Arsenal eased to a 2-1 victory over Leeds United this weekend, as forward Eddie Nketiah hit the headlines once again, netting twice in the first 45 minutes.

With North London rivals Spurs next to come, Arteta's side can wrap up a top-four spot with victory later this week, with Conte's men trailing at present by 4 points.

But with claims suggesting Edu and his fellow hierarchy are desperate for a striker replacement this summer, one pundit suggests they already have what they need.

"It looks like Arsenal have finally found a striker to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang," began Garth Crookes in his weekly BBC column.

"I find it extraordinary that a 22-year-old English forward, who finds himself at a club like Arsenal and playing the football of his life, hasn't had his future nailed down by the club.

"He clearly has all the attributes that make a top player. Even if Arsenal were to buy a renowned goal scorer they would be crazy to let Nketiah go."

With both Nketiah and fellow striker Alexander Lacazette out of contract this summer, most fans had resigned to the fact a new centre forward would then fill the void left following Aubameyang's departure.

But with just two games remaining, Arsenal will be keen for the 22-year-old to continue his current goalscoring exploits, as they search for a vital top-four finish.
