Arsenal figure 'pushing' to sign £30m star at the Emirates

Arsenal are not currently pursuing a deal for Crystal Palace ace Wilfried Zaha, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Mikel Arteta is believed to be in the market for a wide player and the Gunners have tried to sign the Ivory Coast international in the past, although Jones has ruled out Arsenal making a move before the deadline.

That’s because Nicolas Pepe signed for Nice on loan last week, meaning Smith Rowe is Arsenal’s only wide option beyond Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Arsenal have been linked with a host of wingers this summer, with Zaha, valued at £30m, one player that Jones recently said would fit the bill at the Emirates, especially with less than 12 months left on his deal.

But with Palace unlikely to sell their talisman this close to the window slamming shut, the transfer insider said the Gunners aren’t actively looking to sign him despite previous interest.
