Arsenal face serious competition for Alvaro Morata as Prem rivals plan bold move to snare striker

Newcastle United have reportedly registered an interest in Alvaro Morata, joining Arsenal in wanting to bring the striker back to England. 

Morata has been plying his trade in Serie A with Juventus for the past couple of seasons. The striker has bagged 32 goals in all competitions from 92 games during that stretch.

While not a major success, he has acquitted himself well during his loan spell. Juve do have the option to sign Morata permanently at the end of that spell.

However, it appears that the Serie A outfit are not willing to spend the fee required to make his signing permanent. As such, the striker will either return to Atletico Madrid, or move on to pastures new.

There are a few clubs interested in taking him on board, too. Arsenal’s interest in the 29-year-old has been well reported in recent weeks.

It seems the list of clubs with an interest in Morata is increasing, though. Calciomercato reports that both Newcastle and Barcelona have joined the race for him.

With the striker out of contract in Spain at the end of next season, a move could be on the cards.

Clearly, Atletico would not miss him too much, given he has been playing away from the side for two seasons.

As such, they may well be keen on guaranteeing a decent fee for Morata now.

With a few sides reportedly interested, a transfer could soon be on the cards.

Should Newcastle bring Morata back to England, that transfer could go both ways. A player that has scored the volume of goals that the Spaniard has had in his career looks like a good signing.

Indeed, he has scored goals in each country he has played in. However, his previous spell in England could fairly be categorised as a poor one.

Morata managed just 24 goals in 72 games for Chelsea in the 2017/18
