Arsenal 'definitely in' for exciting signing at the Emirates

Arsenal are ‘definitely in the market’ for a ‘forward player’ despite their significant spending this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The Gunners have spent in excess of £100 million once again in the current window, with the owners handing manager Mikel Arteta substantial financial backing in the transfer market.

Arteta has already brought in the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira and Oleksandr Zinchenko to strengthen his first-team squad, but further reinforcements could still arrive.

Back in July, Arsenal were unsuccessful in their attempts to sign Raphinha from Leeds United in a big-money deal, indicating they have the resources and desire to sign a new winger.

And with Nicolas Pepe closing in on a loan switch to Ligue 1 outfit Nice, speculation has continued to mount over who Arteta could look to replace him with.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, Sheth said: “Arsenal are definitely in the market to bring in a forward player even though they’ve spent big in this transfer window.

“Only Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have spent more I think, and they were the biggest spenders last summer, they are backing Mikel Arteta. But if you go back to earlier on in the summer, they were prepared to pay in excess of £50 million for Raphinha from Leeds United.

“Chelsea then nicked in and then eventually he went to Barcelona, but the fact of the matter was because they were prepared to spend that much money, I would suggest that there is an opening and a priority that Mikel Arteta might want to fill in that position.“
