Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard issues two-word warning to Man City in Premier League title race

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has insisted he and the club are "not afraid" of a title race with Manchester City.

City claimed a 1-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday to move back to just one point behind leaders Liverpool in the Premier League table. Phil Foden scored the decisive goal at the Vitaly Stadium to secure the three points for Pep Guardiola's team.

Saturday also saw Arsenal move back to one point behind City in third place with a 4-1 win over Newcastle. City are due to face the Gunners at the Etihad Stadium on March 31 in the first game after the international break.

The final weeks of the title race are likely to see City battle Arsenal and Liverpool for the trophy. And now Odegaard has explained why he and his teammates at the Gunners are determined to go head-to-head with their rivals for the title, after missing out on City last season.

"Now is the moment to show that we’re not afraid, to show what we learnt last season," Odegaard told TNT Sports on Saturday night.

"The year before that, we missed the Champions League and then we came back so strong, of course, we missed out on the title last year but it’s time to prove we learnt something from that experience.

"We enjoy playing with each other, every day is so exciting and now we have to take it step-by-step, work hard and then we’ll see who wins it in the end.
