Arsenal announcement on £100k-a-week star 'in coming days' at the Emirates

Arsenal are expected to announce Eddie Nketiah‘s contract extension “in the coming days”, according to The Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

The 22-year-old is set to be rewarded for his strong end to last season with a new long-term deal at the Emirates.

Nketiah looked on course to leave the Gunners when his contract expires later this month, but a flurry of goals might have saved his Arsenal career.

His first Premier League start didn’t arrive until the middle of April, but five goals in his final seven games, which almost dragged Mikel Arteta’s side to fourth place, have convinced him to stay in north London, after previously rejecting contract offers.

As per The Express, Nketiah’s reward for his form in front of goal is a long-term contract earning £100,000 per-week.

Once Nketiah puts pen to paper on this new deal, he’ll be the only senior striker at the club after Alexandre Lacazette re-signed for Lyon last week following the expiration of his Emirates contract.

And Taylor reckons Nketiah’s extension could be announced in the near-future, with the ball firmly in Arsenal’s court.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “When that announcement came out, I firmed it up with a source that Arsenal are still planning to announce his contract in the coming days, is how it was put to me.

“So, Nketiah is staying, 100 per cent. I don’t know when it will be announced, but Arsenal are waiting, it’s in their hands as to when they want to announce it.”
