Arsenal: £32m star now 'working some magic' to seal Emirates move

Arsenal transfer target Douglas Luiz wants to move to the Emirates Stadium from Aston Villa before the 11pm deadline, with his representatives working to complete a deal, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Mikel Arteta is looking to add the finishing touches to his squad ahead of tonight’s cut-off but is running out of time to do just that.

According to Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail, Arsenal are set to submit a second bid for the seven-cap Brazil star worth in the region of £32 million, after their £20 million opener was rejected.

He adds that personal terms are unlikely to be a problem with it pretty clear Luiz wants to move to north London. But it remains to be seen whether or not Villa will accept an offer.

The Athletic claim that Arsenal decided to move for the 24-year-old after Mohamed Elneny picked up a ‘significant’ injury against Fulham last weekend.

Villa manager Steven Gerrard appears to have already turned his attention to replacements, after agreeing a £10 million fee with Wolves for the signing of Leander Dendoncker, a move that could open the door for Luiz’s departure.

Another option that has emerged for the Gunners, however, is Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk, with it understood that personal terms have already been agreed.

Jones understands that Luiz wants to move to Arsenal and his representatives are currently attempting to negotiate his exit from Villa Park.

The transfer insider claims that the Gunners’ current success and trajectory has played a huge part in the player’s decision to move.
