'Arrogant' Ange cops rare Tottenham flak as unseen moment of 'hypocrisy' sparks ire in Chelsea clash

Ange Postecoglou has had a stellar start to life at Tottenham, but he's facing some rare criticism for his 'arrogant' gameplan against Chelsea.

And he's also been branded a 'hypocrite' for one moment that seemingly flew in the face of his gracious comments about the match officials. Postecoglou's team lost their first Premier League game since he joined from Celtic on Monday night, though their 4-1 thumping against Chelsea doesn't tell the whole story. They led until Cristian Romero's first-half red card, and it wasn't until Destiny Udogie's senseless second booking reduced them to nine that Nicolas Jackson's hattrick sealed a win for the Blues.

Spurs maintained a high line throughout even after they were depleted by the two red cards and that led to Chelsea having plenty of space in behind. The question was asked after the game if they'd have been better off deploying a more cautious approach, but in typical Postecoglou fashion, he said that's not his style - and he'd have 'had a go' even with FIVE players left.

He's known for his uncompromising style and it's part of the reason he's so easily won hearts and minds at Celtic and Spurs. But his comments and approach rubbed a few up the wrong way with Jason Cundy saying on talkSPORT: "He played a 4-3-2 then a 4-3-1. I thought it was naive, he gave the opportunity to Chelsea. It felt inevitable. I'm surprised at Postecoglou, I have to say, there was a bit of arrogance."
