Arrests made as horror shooting in Cheetham Hill sparks attempted murder investigation

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a shooting in Cheetham Hill. Officers from Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a 'firearms discharge' on Ermington Drive at around 1pm last Friday, January 10.

On Sunday night (January 12), police arrested a 23 year old man following a raid at an address in Moston. Specialist officers from the Force Critical Wanted Unit were also searching for the other suspects and arrested two men, aged 22 and 26, on Bury Old Road on Monday (January 13), also on suspicion of attempted murder. All three remain in police custody for questioning.

Following the incident, one man who lives locally, said: “I looked out about 3pm and saw all the police. It was just coming up to school time. It was all taped off and you couldn't get through.

Detective Inspector Terina Arthern from GMP's North Manchester district said: “Since Friday, resources from across the force have been deployed to catch those responsible. Investigations into serious incidents involving firearms are robust, utilising specialist resources to understand the circumstances that led to violence erupting, arrest suspects, and build strong case files to support prosecution.
