The house on Eastgrove Avenue was described as a fire hazard after police found electricity system had been tampered with, causing the casing around wires to melt.

An electrician told police it was 'probably a matter of days until a fire started.'

A statement from GMP Bolton North said: "This morning, officers from the the Bolton North Neighbourhood team executed a warrant at Eastgrove Avenue, Sharples in Bolton.

"Once inside officers found a large cannabis farm. In total there were 455 cannabis plants split over 5 rooms.

"Most worrying of all was the way the electricity system had been tampered with, causing the casing around wires at the point of entry into the house to start melting with the electrician stating it was probably a matter of days until a fire started.

"A male has been arrested and is currently being interviewed in custody.

"In the last 3 weeks this team have executed 4 warrants at separate address'. We could not carry out this work without the information you the public provide - Thank You!"
