Arne Engels seals Celtic transfer as Brendan Rodgers lands his top target in record breaking deal

Arne Engles has completed his club record deal to Celtic.

The Hoops have shelled out to bring in the midfielder from Bundesliga side Augsburg as Brendan Rodgers lands his top target. The midfielder was on the radar of the champions as Matt O'Riley's exit from the Scottish Premiership escalated and those plans ramped up once the midfielder completed his move south of the border to Brighton.

The Belgian has put pen to paper on a four-year deal at Parkhead. His move to Scotland quickly follows on the heels of defender Auston Trusty who completed a £5million move from Sheffield United on a five-year deal. Boss Rodgers said of Engels: “We are delighted to bring Arne to Celtic. He is an exciting young player of real quality who has already made his mark at a really high level in the Bundesliga.

"He has a wide range of attributes which will allow him to play a number of positions in midfield, so we feel he is an excellent acquisition for the Club. I think Arne’s style of play, his energy and his technical ability really will suit our game model.

"While Celtic will always be our priority, it is fantastic too that Arne is now receiving full international recognition within a top Belgian squad, something he is very deserving of."
