Arne Engels floored by first Celtic impression as new signing sums excitement up with one word reaction

It was quite the whirlwind weekend for new recruit Arne Engels after Brendan Rodgers splashed the cash to bring him to the Scottish champions from Bundesliga outfit Augsburg. A full house of Celtic fans partied in Glasgow's east end at full-time as the tunes blasted around Parkhead with the players taking a lap of honour after goals from Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi and Callum McGregor secured a comfortable victory. It was a day of firsts for Engels as he got into the spirit after Celtic TV footage captured him dancing with Alistair Johnston as they took in the applause of the supporters and soaked up the noise and atmosphere.

As the 20-year-old came into shot, the camera was fixed on him for his reaction and he simply shouted 'AMAZING'. It was a debut to remember for the midfielder with Luke McCowan also thrusted into derby action late on. Fellow new Bhoys Auston Trusty and Alex Valle were part of the matchday squad but neither made it off the bench.

Speaking after the game, Rodgers said: “We’ve seen from pre-season that mentality to defend, And if the team does break through then you’ve got Kasper who’s a world-class goalkeeper to make the save.

"Keeping the clean sheet was important to us. That takes hunger and mentality. It’s a decision to want to go and defend and press.
