Armadale Devils strengthen their 2022 roster as exciting duo return for new season
Armadale Devils now have four riders signed up for the 2022 campaign after Lewis Millar and George Rothery became the latest to commit to the club.
The pair join Danny Phillips and Tom Woolley in returning to Armadale Stadium next season following the Devils’ successful return to the sport in the National Development League last year.
The 23-year-old Rothery burst onto the scene with double digit scores in his first three matches for the Devils but it was ultimately a frustratingly inconsistent season that included plenty of crashes.
Falkirk lad Millar, meanwhile, showed great signs of improvement and was an ever-present for Armadale on their return to the third tier of British speedway following a 15 year hiatus.
He says he’s looking to make a step forward in year two with the club, saying: “I am looking forward to it this year. I have a bit more experience now so I know what it is all about this time.
“I know people could say I had some experience with Stoke before last year but I only did two matches with them so last year was really my first.
“I am looking forward to kicking on and using that to my advantage. It will be good to build some more momentum this year with the fixtures.
“Last year you could have a meeting or two then have six weeks off whereas this year it looks better spread out so it will be good to get that consistency and that consistency of the level of opponents.”
He added: “The aim for this year is to go better than last. At one point last year we were in third and that was exciting so I want to keep that up this year.
“If we can hit that kind of form and make sure we don’t drop any points at home then see what we can do away then that will be a good season.”
Rothery echoed his team-mate’s thoughts
