Ardal North West promotion race plunged into uncertainty over abandoned fixture

There is growing uncertainty surrounding the promotion race in the third tier Ardal North West League after a match between Porthmadog FC and Saltney Town was abandoned with just minutes remaining back in November. It is not yet known whether Port will receive the three points for the fixture.

Mold Alexandra are almost certain to claim the Ardal North West title, meaning that either Porthmadog or Denbigh will face a play off against their Ardal North East League counterparts to determine who goes up to the second tier. Saltney Town FC have supported Port's stance that the Gwynedd side should be awarded the three points, whilst also revealing that a hearing on the matter was adjourned.

Saltney Town FC stated on Twitter: "Unfortunately the hearing over the abandoned match at Porthmadog last night was adjourned due to an issue outside both clubs' control. We are no clearer at the moment whether the game is to be replayed, but have re-iterated our feelings that the result should stand as a Port win."

Chas Rowland of the Ardal North West League told North Wales Live: "The Lock
