Aramco Team Series in London is proof of golf’s growth in Kingdom, says Golf Saudi CEO

LONDON: The latest Aramco Team Series concluded at Centurion Club in London with Nelly Korda crowned the individual champion and Georgia Hall captaining her fourball team to victory.

The series, backed by Saudi Aramco, Golf Saudi and the Saudi Golf Federation, features five global tournaments, with a competition in London over the past week, following Singapore and Florida earlier in 2023.

For Golf Saudi CEO Noah Alireza, the event — and its impact on the sport in the Kingdom — continues to go from strength to strength.

“Our goals, and those of the Aramco Team Series, are in perfect alignment with those of Vision 2030, and we remain committed to delivering on the ambitious objectives of our leadership,” he said.

“London’s champions deserve our congratulations, but also worthy of celebration is the incredible growth of this sport in the Kingdom and the Saudi population’s increasing passion for golf.”

During the London event, Golf Saudi’s Mass Participation team set up golf coaching clinics led by Saudi coaches, inviting young students including Saudi nationals and their families to participate in various golf-related activities with the objective of creating a positive effect for the first-timers. 

Saudi Arabia was also well-represented in the Pro-Am and by amateurs in the innovative team championship, most notably by rising star Lujain Khalil.

Making her debut as a championship amateur, Khalil clinched the Longest Drive on the 6th hole during the Pro-Am. Golf Saudi said that her exploits highlighted the promising advancement of women’s golf in the Kingdom and served as an inspiration for young women in the sport.
