Apex Legends: EA reveals date and location of Apex Legends Global Series Championship
EA has revealed where and when the upcoming Apex Legends Global Series Championship is being held, as per Altchar.
The Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Year 2 Championship is set to be held at the PNC Arena in Raleigh, North California from July 7 to July 10.
The PNC Arena has a capacity of 19,772 and usually plays host to both ice hockey and basketball.
The ALGS has never before been held in front of a live audience due to the pandemic and it will 40 of the world’s top Apex Legends squads against one another.
They will come from five different regions and there will be a prize pool worth $2 million (£1.5m) on offer.
The championship will begin on July 7th, with a group stage that is spread over the first two days. Teams will split into four groups of 10 teams and each group will play a six-match series against every other group in the group stage.
On July 8th, every team will be given a starting position in the Bracket Stage’s double-elimination bracket, based on their performance in the group stage, and this will also be played over July 9th.
The top 20 teams will then advance to the finals. They will take place on July 10th, and will consist of a single match-point series to determine the Apex Legends Global Series Champion.
The details have been revealed after the ALGS Split 2 play-offs that were located in the city of Stockholm in Sweden, and that event broke viewing records for EA.
The playoffs were watched for a total of 10.3 million hours, but part of that will come down to players hoping to see what is coming to the game over the next few months.
