Antony breaks his silence after scoring first Manchester United goal vs Arsenal

Antony has vowed that his debut goal is "just the beginning" after helping Manchester United register an impressive 3-1 win over Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Fresh from signing for the club on transfer deadline day from Ajax, the Brazilian international was thrown straight into the starting line-up by Erik ten Hag, replacing Anthony Elanga. His inclusion from the start meant that Jadon Sancho was forced to take up residency on the left, with Antony deployed in his favoured right-wing role.

After a relatively quiet opening 34 minutes, the 22-year-old threatened to blow the roof off of Old Trafford with a well-taken strike. After being slipped in by Marcus Rashford, who went on to score twice after half-time, the former Ajax man, on his favoured left-foot, curled a low, composed effort past Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

It was just the sort of impact that he would have dreamt of making when he went to bed on Saturday evening. It was an excellent finish and it even earned a round of applause from substitute Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo replaced the Brazilian 13 minutes into the start of the second-half, just two minutes before Arsenal equalised through Bukayo Saka. However, Rashford scored twice to ensure Antony came out on the winning side on his debut.

Reflecting on his United debut, he posted on his Twitter account: "What an incredible day! A huge thanks to all the MU staff and my teammates!!

"I'll never forget this day! To United fans, all my affection for this reception! Let's go for more! That's just the beginning!"
