Anthony Martial dilemma means two Manchester United players might be competing for one position

If you type 'Anthony Martial' into Getty Images' search bar, it isn't long before you find pictures of the Manchester United forward with his boots on.

Unlike the photos of the rest of his teammates, however, they haven't been captured during pre-season training. The last time the Frenchman was pictured sporting his boots was on the final day of the Premier League season at Old Trafford on May 28.

Despite being included in the 31-man squad that has jetted off to the United States for the club's pre-season tour, Martial has only been pictured wearing running shoes on the Carrington training pitches so far this pre-season. He suffered a hamstring injury on the final day of last term, ruling him out of the FA Cup final at Wembley the following weekend, and he has not played since.

He was left out of the squad that travelled to Oslo for last week's pre-season opener against Leeds United and he once again failed to make the cut for the trip to Edinburgh to face Lyon on Wednesday. It has left United significantly light on forward options in their opening two games.

Martial's inability to stay fit has been a long-running issue for United, meaning there are a growing number of supporters who want to see the club cash in on him this summer. He featured in fewer than half of United's 62 matches last term, leaving them regularly light on centre-forward options.
