Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk 2 Card: Who is fighting?
A new date has been set for Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk’s rematch later this summer as AJ tries to win back his world championships.
Joshua and his Ukrainian opponent were originally scheduled to fight in May and then again in July, but delays in the negotiations caused the bout to be postponed even longer. Usyk’s native Ukraine, where Russia is at war, undoubtedly affected the decision to hold a rematch with Joshua.
Usyk, 35, went home earlier this year to take part in the conflict with Russia that has been raging since February.

Joshua wants to make amends by taking on the Ukrainian in a rematch, much like the Olympic gold medallist did after his defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr. in 2019. Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, has stated that his client is “baffled” by the strategies employed in the first fight and hinted at a shift in strategy for the rematch.
The parties spent months negotiating a lucrative agreement for AJ’s second fight in Saudi Arabia after he defeated Ruiz Jr there on points in December 2019. Joshua will also have a new training squad, with Angel Fernandez serving as Joshua’s second-in-command and the seasoned Robert Garcia leading his corner.
The 40,000-seat Jeddah Superdome will host this fight on Saturday, August 20, in Saudi Arabia. In December 2019, Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr. squared off once again in Diriyah at a 15,000-seat arena designed for the occasion. This fight started at 9 p.m. UK time, however, the Joshua vs. Usyk 2 times have not yet been determined.
At the time of writing on Friday 22nd
