Anthony Joshua vs Jermaine Franklin fight purses and prize money confirmed

Jermaine Franklin will be hoping to cause an upset on Saturday night, with Britain's Anthony Joshua his opponent at the O2 Arena in London.

The former two-time world champion, Joshua, will be hoping to begin a new chapter of his career with a win against American Franklin. It is a change of pace for Joshua, the first which is not a world title contest since 2016, it is also a return to London's O2 Arena after seven previous fights at the venue in his home town.

The fight is being billed as a 'New Dawn' for 'AJ', with the former Team GB gold medallist from 2012 hoping to rebuild himself with an eye on a potential world title shot in the next 18 months. He has a new coach, with Derrick James taking over from Robert Garcia for the fight.

Eddie Hearn is promoting the event with Matchroom, with the fight being broadcast live for DAZN subscribers without the need for pay per view. However, it is not AJ's biggest fight and the purse is not expected to be close to the reported £33 million he earned to face Usyk last August.

It has not been confirmed how much Joshua will earn for the fight, but he is expected to take home as much as £10 million should he win the contest in London. Meanwhile, Franklin is guaranteed a reported £800k for the fight, but that could rise to over £1 million should he win the fight.
