Anthony Joshua has been tipped to replace Robert Garcia following his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.

Joshua, 32, famously replaced long-time head coach Rob McCracken with former assistant trainer Angel Fernandez in the wake of his schooling at the hands of the the slick southpaw last September.

And British boxing‘s poster boy also brought in Mikey Garcia‘s older brother as an extra pair of hands to help him prepare for his rematch with Usyk.

However that plan horribly backfired as he failed to win any of his belts back before having an almighty tantrum which involved him throwing two of Usyk’s belts out of the ring in a bitter rage.

And British light heavyweight star Dan Azeez reckons Joshua will find it hard to continue working with Garcia after being criticised by him in public in the aftermath of his defeat to Usyk.

While discussing AJ’s relationship with Garcia on Sky Sports‘ Ringside Toe2Toe podcast, Azeez said: “I don’t see them working together again and even him coming out now with the mental stuff.

“Maybe people don’t say it to him behind closed doors but I think it’s something maybe they should have said behind closed doors not come out and say it in public.

“You’re already showing his weaknesses now. Everyone says boxing is 80 per cent mental. If your own trainer who’s spent how many weeks with you is saying he’s not mentally strong or insinuating that that’s a big thing.”

Defending British champion Azeez puts his belt on the line against Shakan Pitters in Liverpool on Saturday night.

The fight takes place on the undercard of Liam Smith’s homecoming bout against Hassan Mwakinyo.
