Anthony Joshua and Jill Scott stun London Marathon runners by giving out drinks

Boxer Anthony Joshua and football star Jill Scott left London Marathon runners stunned as they handed out drinks at the side of the road.

More than 40,000 people took part in the London Marathon, a 26.2 mile route which starts in Blackheath and finishes in front of Buckingham Palace.

Many would have been raising significant sums of money for charity, and they were cheered on by thousands of spectators lining the streets of London.

This includes Joshua and Scott, who handed out cups of Lucozade to the tired runners. They were joined by Arsenal and Scotland defender Jennifer Beattie.

Joshua, Scott and Beattie were captured on camera by sports agent Jo Tongue, who posted the video on Twitter with the caption: “Best day ever as always @LondonMarathon. Well done the drinks crew”.

They handed out numerous cups of Lucozade between them, with some runners even stopping to greet the sporting heroes.

Scott had joined England teammates Leah Williamson and Ellen White earlier in the day to start the London Marathon.

Williamson sounded the buzzer for the wheelchair races to begin, while White started the women’s elite race and Scott pressed the buzzer to send the elite men across the line.

The trio were selected after their heroics at Euro 2022, which saw England win its first major football title since 1966.

Scott and White have since retired from football, while Williamson is set to captain England in a friendly against the United States at Wembley on Friday.

It was not Scott’s first time at the London Marathon. Back in 2001, she won the Mini Marathon in the under-15
