Anthony Elanga Subjected To Vile Racist Abuse After Penalty Miss For Man United

He blazed his spot-kick over the bar after 15 consecutive penalties hit the back of the net.

Shortly after Boro knocked out Man United out of the competition, Elanga was subjected to shocking racist abuse online

Marcus Rashford and David De Gea also shared their love for the exciting attacker, tweeting messages of support.

Instagram are said to be investigating the racist abuse directed at Elanga and have already removed several posts online.

The 19-year-old was left 'shattered and absolutely disappointed' following his penalty miss, according to Ralf Rangnick.

He said: "Anthony Elanga, anyone can imagine how he us, he is shattered and absolutely disappointed.

"It was the eighth penalty which had all converted.

"We will try to encourage him again, be there for him and it can happen to more experienced players.

"We could not have had more players to take it, there was Luke Shaw, Phil Jones and the goalkeeper."

Elanga has played nine games in all competitions this campaign after bursting onto the scene last season.

He has one goal to his name having scored in his team's 3-1 victory over Brentford last month.
