Anthony Elanga ran off to celebrate before Cristiano Ronaldo took penalty vs Brentford
Manchester United‘s final home game of the 2021/22 season was certainly a positive one.
Well, on the pitch at least. Supporters protested against the Glazers in the stands throughout the match against Brentford, but the team still rallied to deliver a rare convincing victory.
United ran out 3-0 winners thanks to goals from Bruno Fernandes, the brilliant Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane.
Ronaldo was comfortably the best player on the park once again and his strike from the penalty spot to make it 2-0 on the night was as emphatic as ever.
You just knew the 37-year-old was going to make the back of the net bulge for the 18th time in the Premier League season when he stepped up.
One man who was more convinced than anyone that Ronaldo would beat David Raya was teenage sensation Anthony Elanga.
The Swedish winger actually ran off to celebrate before his superstar teammate even made contact with the ball from 12 yards.
Talk about having confidence in someone’s footballing ability…
