Anthony Davidson backs Lewis Hamilton to help drive Mercedes recovery

Anthony Davidson has said that Lewis Hamilton is very adaptable and is backing him to help turn Mercedes‘ fortunes around this season.

The Silver Arrows have been struggling for form big time this year and head into the Australian Grand Prix this weekend probably knowing that they don’t have much chance of victory.

Indeed, it’s a feeling that Lewis Hamilton and co. have not been used to in recent years but that is the way the sport goes sometimes, and now Mercedes need to work hard to get back on top.

You can bet they are doing exactly that, though, and former F1 driver Davidson believes that Hamilton will be spearheading all that they’re looking to do:

“To underestimate him, that would be wrong,” said Davidson, quoted by Speedweek.com.

“He never gives up. And he will continue to push the envelope until the problem is fixed.

“He was prepared to go to extremes with the set-up in Jeddah. He found a good rhythm in the race. Sooner or later he will know how to balance the car and the driving style. Lewis is a driver who is incredibly adaptable.”

It’s certainly been odd seeing Hamilton struggling so much with the new car but he is going to be working double hard to try and turn it around.

If they can get back to being competitive quickly they still have time to turn the championship around but, even so, Ferrari and Red Bull are going to be flat out trying to maintain their advantage, and so we’ll see who ultimately wins out in the development race.
