Another Man Utd target bites the dust as Fabrizio Romano confirms Tyrell Malacia is Lyon bound

Manchester United look set to miss out on another summer transfer target, with Fabrizio Romano claiming that Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia is on the verge of a move to Lyon.

Transfer insider Romano confirmed Premier League interest in the 22-year-old, with United boss Erik ten Hag a known admirer of the player’s talents. However, Malacia has decided to join up with Dutch coach Peter Bosz at Lyon instead.

The young defender is expected to fetch a fee of around £12.9million, which would have been a bargain for United.

On the face of it, Malacia appears to be another missed opportunity for United in a difficult window so far.

The start of pre-season training is a matter of weeks away and the Red Devils are yet to sign anyone.

That is despite concrete interest in the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Jurrien Timber, David Raum and Antony, to name a few.

While United are keeping calm about their lack of activity, pundits and fans are certainly having their say.

Indeed Gary Neville has been particularly scathing of his old club’s recruitment policy.
