Angels fire manager Maddon, name Nevin interim manager
The Los Angeles Angels have relieved manager Joe Maddon of his duties, the team announced on Tuesday. The team is in the midst of a 12-game losing streak and have fallen 8.5 games behind the Houston Astros in the AL West.
Phil Nevin has been named interim manager.

Maddon, 68, has spent parts of three seasons as Angels manager, compiling a 157-172 record. The Angels did not make the playoffs during his tenure as manager.
