Ange Postecoglou's Celtic mantra ripples through Tottenham as Defoe and Owen swoon over on-air debrief
The high demands put on his players by Ange Postecoglou have converted Jermain Defoe and Michael Owen to Tottenham title believers.
And the Australian stopped just short of borrowing his 'we never stop' Celtic mantra as he demanded improvements from the North London club despite moving to the top of the English Premier League with a win over Fulham. Son and James Maddison found the back of the net to fire Spurs back top but Postecoglou refused to go overboard after the full-time whistle.
Speaking post-match after taking English football by storm, Postecoglou said: "We didn’t play at the levels we can with the ball, without the ball we were still excellent in terms of our pressing, but with it we were just really, really wasteful. We’ve been really consistent this year, that’s probably the worst 45 minutes with the ball we’ve had so we’ve still got plenty of work to do.
"It’s a combination of things. Thought we got little bit wasteful, static, weren’t moving as much as we were in the first half. I think you’ve always got to respect the game, if you’re off it just a little bit, I’ve been around long enough to know it will drag you down quickly. We took some liberties with the game which I wasn’t happy with."
The harsh criticism of the table toppers converted former England international Owen to the Postecoglou fan club. Speaking to Australian outlet Optus Sport, he said: "It’s easy to shout and bawl when you’ve just been beaten because that’s how you feel, you’re frustrated yourself, but sometimes when you win it’s good, it makes people sit up in the changing room after the game, ‘Oh the manager’s not happy and we’ve just won
"Sometimes on the flip side, it’s reverse psychology, you get beaten and he’ll come in say ‘We did
