Ange Postecoglou reacts to Scottish Football Writers awards storm as Celtic boss hopes it's a catalyst for change
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou wants the controversial comments that emerged from the Scottish Football Writers' awards to act as a catalyst for change.
An apology was issued after speaker Bill Copeland sparked outrage at the annual event over the topics covered during the speech.
Two tables walked out in disgust over the "sexist" and "racist" jokes that were made.
And now Celtic boss Postecoglou – who has spoken at length over how rewarding managing different cultures across the globe – wants the fallout to be used for good.
The 56-year-old was in attendance and wants the events of Sunday night to lead to lasting change.
He told Sky Sports: “For me, the key thing to come out of that is that you can treat it as a little bit of a controversy, or you can treat it as a moment where you can be better.
“We are constantly looking for these moments where we can all be better in terms of what we do and the way we approach things.
“We’ve got to understand that there are people in that room who have different values, different views, irrespective of that, there is an opportunity there for us to learn.
“The organisers have come out and apologised, I don’t think they did it with any harmful intent but if they just focus on the controversy and try to put it to one side then there is a failure there.
