Ange offers Nick Montgomery a glimpse inside his Tottenham machine as Hibs boss touched by Spurs invitation

Nick Montgomery has already been offered the chance to head south and watch Angeball in action as Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has invited him for a day down south.

Montgomery and Postecoglou have made no secret of their admiration of one another with the new Hibs boss hoping to chart a similar path from Australia to success in the UK. Postecoglou swapped Yokohama F.Marinos for Celtic, where he won five trophies in two years before heading to Tottenham where he has become an instant success.

And if Montgomery can achieve a fraction of that success then he'll be a shrewd appointment for Hibs, who beat St Johnstone at the weekend to make it four points from the new boss' first two games in charge. His move to Easter Road comes off the back of A-League glory and Postecoglou has been in touch frequently - inviting him down to spend a day to see the cogs turn inside the Tottenham machine.

He said: “When we won the grand final Ange was one of the first to congratulate me, and he was one of the first again to text me when I was appointed by Hibs. What Ange said was really humbling. I’ve followed his career closely and it’s a measure of the man that he’s offered me the support and encouragement that he has.

“Everybody knows what he achieved up here with Celtic, and now he’s doing an amazing job at Tottenham. I said from day one he’d surprise a lot of people at Spurs and he’s hit the ground running. The whole club is behind him and they’re playing some fantastic football. He’s invited me down to spend a day at Tottenham and that’s something I’ll certainly do when the opportunity arises.”
