Ange issued reality check as Celtic 'gimme' games rinsed by Tim Sherwood in brutal 'out of a job' Tottenham timeline

Bullish Tim Sherwood has warned Ange Postecoglou that there will be no "gimme" games like he enjoyed at Celtic.

And the former Tottenham boss reckons Daniel Levy could move him on quickly if the club are not on the path to Champions League football once again. Postecoglou stepped away from Celtic Park after a clean sweep of silverware in Scotland and off the back of consecutive Scottish Premiership titles, but Sherwood reckons that things won't be as clear cut for the boss now he has made the move to north London.

Sherwood, who lasted just six months in the hot seat at the English Premier League during an ill-fated spell at the helm, reckons that Postecoglou is facing a situation where "he will be out of a job very soon” if he doesn't meet chairman Levy's threshold for success. Sherwood told the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast: “He will find it a culture shock, there are no ‘gimme’ games, and anyone can beat anyone especially when you are at Spurs.

"Without being disrespectful to the Scottish Premier League, you have four games a year and it is not a very competitive environment. The Premier League is the ultimate test.

"t’s a brave move from Tottenham’s point of view, but they have tried to go safe before with [Antonio] Conte and [Jose] Mourinho so why not roll the dice? They have certainly done it this time.”

When talking about potential objectives for Spurs next season, Sherwood added: “When he sat down with Daniel Levy, I know Daniel would have said ‘we want to be in the Champions League’. It’s going to be very hard to get into the Champions League and if that is the objective, he will be out of a job very soon.”
