Celtic currently have the second-youngest squad in the Premiership in terms of average age.

Nonetheless, the Hoops still have a handful of players in their ranks who have hit the age of 30, such as Joe Hart, Scott Bain and James McCarthy.

Another one of Celtic’s older players is James Forrest, who has made 444 senior appearances for the Bhoys across all competitions, scoring 97 goals and supplying 98 assists.

Despite putting pen to paper on a new three-year deal in May which will keep him at Parkhead until 2025, the summer transfer window has seen the Hoops being linked with a player who could go on to become Forrest’s heir at the club.

Earlier this month, it was claimed by journalist Geoff Peters on Twitter that Celtic are interested in signing Blackburn Rovers winger Tyrhys Dolan.

The 20-year-old joined Rovers from fellow Lancashire club Preston North End two years ago. Since then, the attacker has made 76 appearances for his current side across all competitions, scoring eight goals and delivering six assists in the process.

Last season saw the youngster, who is currently picking up £3.6k-per-week, find the net four times and supply three assists in 34 Championship appearances.

This backs up why Justin Peach touted Dolan to be a “massive” player for Blackburn in the future on an episode of The Stopwatch podcast.

To further highlight his attacking talent, the 20-year-old racked up a higher percentage of shots on target (63.3%) than any other player in Blackburn’s squad with more than six attempts at goal.

This shows that, just like Forrest, Dolan can be a troublesome character for opposition defences and goalkeepers from out wide.
