Andy Ruiz Jr beats Luis Ortiz: Highlights show Mexican landed some monstrous shots
Andy Ruiz Jr returned to action last night in Los Angeles to take on Luis Ortiz in a WBC title eliminator as he looks to become a heavyweight world champion once again, dominating King Kong in a brutal slugfest to win via unanimous decision.
He shot to fame when he secured a huge victory over Anthony Joshua despite being a massive underdog in the bout, becoming a world champion in the process, however, it was short lived for The Destroyer who lost the titles in the rematch.
Since those high profile bouts in 2019, he fought Chris Arreola and won via unanimous decision in 2021, with his fight with Ortiz last night his first of the year.
We have seen him improve his physicality in recent weeks, looking in better shape than he did during the Joshua fights, and it certainly played a part as his bout with Ortiz can only be described as a titanic slugfest.
Many thought Ruiz was on his way out of the sport after he was taking less fights and looking to be winding down, however the power on display from him last night suggests otherwise.
