Andy Murray teases British tennis star over lucrative role in Saudi Arabia

Andy Murray took to social media to tease his mate Liam Broady once more over his involvement with the lucrative Six Kings Slam event in Saudi Arabia. The former tennis ace has been vocal about his stance on the high-stakes exhibition tournament, which boasts the highest prize pot ever seen in tennis.

Top players like world No.1 Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal are participating, and the WTA Finals will also take place there in three weeks. However, it seems the £1.12million appearance fee is a key incentive for their participation in the Arabian Gulf, as the event doesn't offer ATP ranking points as the 2024 season winds down.

The champion stands to earn up to £4.6m – twice what Alcaraz received for his Wimbledon victory this year.

Murray couldn't resist ribbing his good friend Broady, who is set to be a pundit for Sky Sports Tennis' broadcast. Commentator Adam Fielder announced the news on Twitter: "Let's hope the tennis is as good as the promotional video. 37-year-old former tennis ace Murray has again voiced his opinion on a fellow Brit, who had previously lauded a tournament promotion video where stars were depicted as characters from Indiana Jones. Broady was left in awe, saying: "Speechless as to how damn cool this promo is. Probably the best I've ever seen in tennis. Would watch this movie. 10/10."
