Andrew Henderson not heading to Widnes, Bradford or London

Andrew Henderson is not in the running to become the new head coach of Widnes, Bradford or London Broncos, Love Rugby League understands.

The 42-year-old is currently the head of rugby at promotion-chasing League 1 club Keighley. He has also got a number of roles doing punditry in the media.

And when appearing on Premier Sports on Monday night, Henderson was asked by fellow pundit Kevin Brown about his links to the vacant job at Widnes. He didn’t confirm or deny, but teased that some news on his future will be announced by the end of the week.

Widnes, Bradford and London Broncos are on the lookout for new head coaches following the departures of Simon Finnigan, John Kear and Jermaine Coleman respectively.

But sources have told Love Rugby League that Henderson will NOT be unveiled as the new head coach of any of the aforementioned clubs.

The Torquay-born hooker began his playing career at Salford. He racked up more than 400 career appearances. He represented Salford, Barrow, Balmain, Castleford, Gateshead, Sheffield and London.

On the international stage, Henderson qualified to play for Scotland through family heritage. He won 22 caps for the Bravehearts and played in two World Cups.

Henderson began his coaching career in the professional ranks with the Eagles in 2013. He won 16 of 17 games in charge of the club.

Henderson retired from playing in 2015 and took up a full-time head coaching gig with London Broncos. He picked up 54 wins from a possible 92.

Henderson left the capital in 2017 to become Steve Price’s assistant at Super League side Warrington. He held that position until the end of last season.
