AmaZulu part ways with head coach Brandon Truter

AmaZulu have announced that they parted ways with head coach Brandon Truter following an underwhelming start to the season.

Following Truter's departure, a club statement read:

"AmaZulu Football Club would like to announce that it has parted ways with head coach Brandon Truter. The 52-year-old was in charge of the team for just over five months.

"He impressed since taking over the reins following the departure of Benni McCarthy in March. However, the current season has proved to be difficult and the team has recorded just three DStv Premiership wins. Truter's record is as follows: 19 games, seven wins, seven draws and five losses. We thank him for his cooperation and hard work for the club and wish him luck in his future career."

Having joined the side just more than five months ago, much was expected from Truter and his men. Despite AmaZulu reaching the MTN8 semi-final, where they still have a second leg against Kaizer Chiefs to play, they have been poor in the league as Usuthu currently sit ninth on the DStv Premiership standings, recording 11 points from nine matches.

The recent 1-0 KwaZulu-Natal derby defeat to Richards Bay FC was what proved to be the final nail in the coffin for the 52-year-old with the club yet to name a successor.

AmaZulu next play Orlando Pirates on 14 October.
