Amad can help Erik ten Hag solve a key issue at Manchester United next season

Manchester United need to improve their frontline next season. Cristiano Ronaldo scored 24 goals in all competitions last term but of the club's other players, only Bruno Fernandes hit double figures and this can't continue if Erik ten Hag is to be successful at Old Trafford.

United have been linked with a number of forwards so far this transfer window, with Mike Verweij most recently linking Antony with a switch from Ajax to Old Trafford. But last season the team had no natural right-wingers and so even if they make a signing in this position, there is still room for a rotation option.

Amad moved on loan to Rangers in January but received limited minutes under Giovanni van Bronckhorst. However, the Ivorian winger's talent has clearly been noticed and he has been nominated for this year's Golden Boy award alongside fellow United winger Anthony Elanga.

Amad has one advantage over his teammates who could be viewed as his competition for a place on the right of United's frontline - he is left-footed. Jadon Sancho, Elanga, Marcus Rashford and Facundo Pellistri are all right-footed, meaning when they are played on the right-hand side they are unable to cut in to shoot and are often forced wide.

Being left-footed, Amad can either go on the outside or cut in and this offers Ten Hag a level of versatility he would otherwise be lacking. And the 19-year-old winger also has other attributes that could benefit United.

Amad's technical ability and ball control are exceptional. He is able to stop powerful passes dead or flick them past his opponent, allowing him to easily dictate the tempo down the wing.
