AlphaTauri travels to NY Fashion Week to reveal livery for 2023 Formula 1 car

The AlphaTauri team used the 2023 New York Fashion Week to reveal not only its new clothing collection, but also the livery for its new Formula 1 car, the AT04.

The event took place in the same city where Red Bull revealed its 2023 livery and announced a new technical partnership with Ford that will commence in 2026 when the new technical regulations come into play.

For AlphaTauri, the livery reveal for the AT04 is not just about showing off their new colours, but a hope that the new season will be significantly better than last year.

They must do better

Last year, AlphaTauri endured one of its toughest seasons yet. The Italian team finished ninth of the ten teams, and the best finishing position any one of its drivers achieved was by Pierre Gasly who placed fifth at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Besides that, two eighth-place finishes were Gasly's highest-finishing positions in 2022. Yuki Tsunoda finished seventh in Round 3 in Italy, but his season went from bad to worse.

However, with Gasly moving to Alpine, the team roped in Dutch racing driver Nyck de Vries, who, at the age of 28, will make his F1 debut. And there is plenty of pressure on his shoulders, as Helmut Marko, Red Bull and AlphaTauri's motorsport advisor, sees him as the senior member of the team and the one who must take 22-year-old Tsunoda under his wing.

Yet, for Tsunoda, the pressure is even higher because another poor season could see his F1 dream end.

"Last year, Yuki struggled with the car," said team boss Franz Tost.

"This year, as I expect we will have quite a competitive car, Yuki must always aim to be in Qualifying 3 and finish the races in the points.
