Almiron vs Grealish: Newcastle man gives shirt to fan with sign after Man City draw
Miguel Almiron had extra motivation going into Newcastle United’s Premier League clash against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
The Paraguayan was the subject of bizarre criticism from Jack Grealish during City’s Premier League title celebrations in May.
Grealish was discussing City’s epic comeback against Aston Villa on the final day of the season to win the title.
The Englishman said that one of Pep Guardiola’s best decisions during the game was taking off Mahrez. He then unnecessarily compared the Algerian winger to Almiron.
He said: “Riyad [Mahrez]: take him off as soon as possible… he played like [Miguel] Almiron.”

Grealish did not feature in the match at St James’ Park on Sunday as he missed out through injury.
Almiron was in the starting lineup, though, and he scored Newcastle’s first goal in the 3-3 draw.
Allan Saint-Maximin swung a cross in and Almiron turned the ball into the net with his thigh.
The finish was very unorthodox but he would not have cared at all.
Almiron was subbed off in the 83rd minute as he made way for Jacob Murphy.
Newcastle held on to draw 3-3 and, after the match, Almiron acknowledged the comments made by Grealish.
He spotted a Newcastle fan with a sign which read: “Miggy, can Grealish have your shirt?”
The 28-year-old obliged and was seen giving the supporter his jersey. View the moment below…
