Ally McCoist wants VAR scrapped as Rangers hero confesses U-turn after weekend of chaos

Ally McCoist admits he was wrong to open his arms to VAR in the Scottish game - and says he "wouldn't be disappointed" if it was scrapped.

The technology has been a bone of contention throughout Scottish football since its introduction in October but it's hit breaking point after a weekend of chaos in the Premiership. A number of questionable decisions in the latest round of fixtures have left various SPFL bosses and chiefs furious with Lee Johnson and Derek McInnes both livid with the officiating after Celtic's win over Hibs and Kilmarnock's draw with St Johnstone.

Dundee United have called for a round-table summit with Motherwell also pushing for SFA answers into how the technology has been implemented. It comes as public favour is rapidly turning against VAR and now McCoist, previously one of its defenders, admits to changing his mind.

The Rangers hero said: "I think it's been a bumpy ride everywhere. I'll be brutally honest, I thought it would be a great thing. I thought anything that rights a wrong must be a good thing, but I've changed my mind.

"It's driving me crazy. It wouldn't disappoint me if we didn't see it again. I'm all for goal-line technology if the ball's over the line, I'm for that, but I would not be breaking my heart if we didn't see VAR again."
