Ally McCoist senses Rangers 'bad news' after Brendan Rodgers Celtic return as gloating Alan Brazil sticks boot in

Ally McCoist admits Brendan Rodgers returning to Celtic is bad news for Rangers but told Michael Beale he must get his own house in order by signing up to FIVE more players to add to his squad.

But breakfast radio sidekick and Hoops-daft co-host Alan Brazil told the Ibrox strike legend not to worry because the Light Blues will still finish SECOND. Returning Parkhead gaffer Rodgers is set to be officially presented to the media on Friday and McCoist says that isn’t good for his old club after the Irishman led Celtic to seven domestic trophies on the spin in his first spell.

The only down side according to McCoist is the potential split in the support over the manner of his departure first time around but the 60-year-old said: “Within Scottish football it’s a kind of no-brainer decision because he’s a top class coach and manager. He knows the club really well and was extremely successful before so that alone makes it an obvious choice and a pretty good choice in my book. However, as has been well documented, there’s a certain section of the Celtic support who made it clear they were not happy with Brendan when he left.”

Asked by former Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor if it was good or bad news for Rangers, McCoist confessed: “I’d have thought it was bad news, yeah, for the reasons I’ve given. But Rangers and Michael Beale can’t afford to start thinking about what’s going on across the city. They have to concentrate on themselves and that’s bringing four or five players in.”

And Brazil chimed in: “I wouldn’t worry about it, you’ll still finish second anyway,” to which McCoist replied: “We’ll win it this year.”
