Ally McCoist gives Rangers three reasons why PSV are 'different' but Champions League tie is no Mission Impossible

Ally McCoist reckons Rangers will face a difficult task against a 'different' PSV side but that lightning can strike twice.

It was a night to remember in Eindhoven one year ago when a then Gio Van Bronckhorst side reached the Champions League group stage after seeing off the Dutch giants. Now Michael Beale and Co face the same task after edging past Swiss opposition in Servette on Tuesday night, with James Tavernier's header sealing a big win at the Stade de Geneve. The Rangers boss will want to do the same as his predecessor with the lure of a prize pot from Europe's biggest competition on offer.

Ibrox hero McCoist was front and centre at some of the biggest nights on the Gers' memorable Europa League run last year, and believes there is no reason for the tie to be 'beyond' Beale and his men. But the popular pundit is warning that a different side under Peter Bosz will look to sting the Light Blues and get their revenge next week.

He told TNT Sports: "It's a really difficult task. I'll tell you why; I watched the game last night and I thought Rangers deserved to go through. Should have and probably could have won the game, it wasn't a great first half but a better team performance in the second half.

"They knocked PSV out this time last year but I just think it's a different PSV this time. They look stronger, they look quicker and more of a goal threat. It's a big ask, but it's certainly not beyond Rangers that's for sure."
