Allianz League wrap: Late Donegal rally helps them to snatch semi-final spot from Tyrone

Donegal could only make the semi-finals in Division 2B of the Allianz Hurling League with a victory over Tyrone, and that's exactly what they delivered at Letterkenny.

The Red Hand led with just shy of 20 minutes on the clock as Sean Duffin found the back of the net, but it would be the hosts who would go in ahead when Ruairí Campbell found the back of the net.

Donegal went two clear early in the second half, but Tyrone looked liked they were going to win it when they established a two-point cushion inside the last five minutes.

The Tír Chonaill men weren't going to be denied on their home patch, with Oisín Marley's point from a tight angle confirming the comeback victory, and progress to a semi-final meeting with Wicklow.

The Garden County were beaten by Sligo this afternoon at Markievicz Park in one of two dead rubbers in the division.

Tomás Cawley's goal, after being played through by Eddie O'Donoghue, was all that separated the sides at the break, the hosts in the ascendency.

Wicklow, with their semi-final spot assured before throw in, showed character to draw level early in the second half but it was Sligo who finished strongest, despite Fionn Connolly seeing the sideline for a second yellow.

Eddie O'Donoghue, Diarmuid Hanniffy and Joe McHugh all got in on the scoring act for the Markievicz County in the last 10 minutes, before Fionn Moylan became the second Sligo play to be sent off for two yellow cards.

London are the next up for Sligo int the relegation play-off, with the Exiles finishing off their regular season campaign with a narrow defeat to a Meath side who are into the final, with a 100% record in the spring.
