Allianz Hurling 2B/3B round-up: Meath book final spot

Meath have booked their place in the Division 2B final after a comprehensive 2-17 to 0-08 win over Tyrone at O'Neill’s Healy Park.

The counties had entered the game one and two in the table, but such was the margin of Meath’s win, Tyrone dropped below Donegal and Wicklow, who meet on Sunday, and into fourth on scoring difference.

The first six points were shared, Dermot Begley drawing Tyrone level in the 10th minute, but from there the Royals took control with six points in-a-row giving them a commanding lead.

Indeed, they scored 12 of the last 14 points of the first half to lead 0-15 to 0-05 at the turnaround.

Tyrone opened the second-half scoring but Meath responded with a goal through full-forward Éamon Óg Ó Donnchadha.

Scores were at premium in the second half but Seoirse Bulfin’s side did add a second major through Paddy Branwell late on to complete a routine victory.

In a high-scoring first half at McGovern Park, London led 3-09 to 1-10 at the break as both sides chased their first points of the league campaign.

The visitors had started the brighter but a Ronan Crowley penalty had London ahead before a couple of Andrew Kilcullen frees and a Fionn Connolly point left it 1-02 to 0-05 early on.

The sides traded scores before David Barron grabbed a second London goal and Sligo’s task was made even trickier with the dismissal of Eoin Comerford.

Jack Goulding added a third goal for Kevin McMullan’s side, but Conor Hannify replied with a Sligo goal to leave the away side five behind at the interval.

The scores kept coming in the second half and Goulding soon had his second goal to put the hosts nine
