Allegiant Stadium: Inside the Super Bowl venue hosting Manchester United vs Borussia Dortmund

Manchester United will play in Las Vegas for the first time this summer, after a friendly with Borussia Dortmund was confirmed.

The fixture on July 30 will take place at the Allegiant Stadium and be the final match on the club's pre-season tour of the United States. United face Wrexham on July 25 in Las Vegas and are expected to announce two further matches Stateside in the coming weeks.

The game against Dortmund will be the first meeting since the 2016 edition of the International Champions Cup, when the German giants won 4-1 against Jose Mourinho's side in China. This year the venue will be Allegiant Stadium in Vegas. Here's all you need to know.

The stadium opened in 2021 at a staggering cost of $1.9billion, making it one of the most expensively constructed stadiums in history. It is covered by a dome, meaning the stadium is fully enclosed and climate-controlled, a much-needed feature for United given their game with Dortmund will take place when local temperatures average 40°C during day-time. It is located in Paradise, a stone's throw from the Vegas strip. The stadium's name comes from the budget airline Allegiant Air, headquartered in Summerlin, a suburb of Vegas.

The Allegiant Stadium has been the home of National Football League side Las Vegas Raiders since opening. It also hosts the UNLV Rebels, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas' college football team. College football's Vegas Kickoff Classic and the Las Vegas Bowl have also been hosted there since 2021.

The stadium can hold a capacity crowd of 65,000 for NFL games. That reduces slightly to 61,000 for football matches and is likely the figure United and Dortmund will hope
