All Stars Unity Cup: Evergreen, Samba FC dominate

The second edition of the All Stars Unity Cup kicked off with thrilling performances as newcomers Evergreen All Stars and Samba FC delivered decisive victories in their opening matches.

The tournament, hosted at Agidingbi Grammar School field, saw Evergreen All Stars overpower Unique Soccer Club with a commanding 3-0 win, showcasing their intent to make a mark in the competition.

Meanwhile, Samba FC made an equally impressive statement by thrashing Ladoje All Stars 4-0 in their debut game, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting tournament.

In other matches played over the weekend, the defending champions and hosts, Liberty Stars, had to settle for a goalless draw against Optimum FC, as both teams struggled to break the deadlock. The match between Old Trafford and Dream Stars also ended in a stalemate, with neither side able to find the back of the net.

Total Football FC secured a narrow 2-1 victory over Linda Sweet Athletes, while Araromi All Stars edged out CAS with a 1-0 win. In another closely fought encounter, KFFI claimed a hard-earned 1-0 victory against Football and Fitness Club, and Agege Sports Club played out a 1-1 draw with Oke Aro All Stars.

As the competition progresses, the second leg of the matches is set to take place this weekend at the same venue, with the aggregate winners over two legs advancing to the quarterfinals. With so much at stake, teams are expected to bring their A-game as they vie for a spot in the next round.
