Game of Thrones favourite and Baby Reindeer star join all-star cast of new thriller

Baby Reindeer's Shalom Brune-Franklin and Game of Thrones star Richard Dormer have been announced as the latest additions to the cast of Amazon Prime Video's forthcoming series The Assassin, currently being filmed in Greece.

The series is a creation of screenwriters Harry and Jack Williams, known for their black-comedy crime thriller Boat Story. The Assassin is a joint venture between Two Brothers Pictures, ZDF, All3Media International, and Stan.

The six-part series features Keeley Hawes, known for her role in Bodyguard, as Julie, a retired hitwoman now living a peaceful life on a secluded Mediterranean island. However, her tranquility is shattered when her estranged son, played by The Good Doctor's Freddie Highmore, arrives from England.

"Armed with questions around new information on his paternity, Edward battles to find the right time to speak to his frustratingly distant mother. But, when the moment finally presents itself, things take a deadly turn as Julie's dangerous past catches up with her and they are forced to flee the island and go on the run together," reads the synopsis.

"Edward's quest for truth clashes with Julie's secrecy whilst they are forced to work together in a fight for survival, testing their dysfunctional relationship to its limits. Amid uncovering a dark conspiracy they believe to be their only threat, a greater danger emerges that will destroy their relationship entirely," reports the Mirror.

"In a race against time, Julie fights to save Edward and salvage their relationship as past and present collide in a showdown across the globe."
